Writing documents

Writing is where a language becomes yours. The editor gives you a clean page in your target language, and help exactly when you ask for it: a topic when you are stuck, a coach when you have a question, corrections when you are done, and rewrites that show you the next level.

Writing a document

  1. Open Documents and start a new document (or open one and switch to Write).
  2. Write. The editor offers light formatting — headings, bold, italic, lists, quotes — and shows a running word count.
  3. Save whenever you like; a saved document can be read like any other, with translations, audio, and reading aids.

Stuck for an idea? Choose Topic — Immersive suggests something to write about at your level. Dismiss it or ask for a new one until something clicks.

Asking the Coach

The Coach is an assistant you can call on while reading or writing. Ask it for help with your text — explanations, ideas, phrasing — and it answers in your own language, with your document in front of it.

Getting corrections

When your draft is ready, choose Correct. Your text is submitted for correction and comes back with:

  • Corrections, each with an explanation in your language of what changed and why.
  • Other ways to say it — natural, simpler, formal, and casual alternatives.
  • A CEFR estimate of the writing level of your text.

Review the corrected text and, if you are happy, Apply to document — your document takes the corrected text, and the previous version is kept in History so nothing is lost. Past submissions remain available, so you can look back at what kept getting corrected.

The writing assistant

Alongside the editor sits a three-tab assistant:

  • Edits shows your latest corrections in place, your writing level, and the Correct button.
  • Rewrite works on a selection: select a passage and ask for a suggestion — Immersive rewrites it one level above your current writing level, with the same meaning. The suggestion appears under the paragraph; Replace takes it, Dismiss leaves your text alone.
  • Tone rewrites your whole draft for a situation you describe in your own words — “a formal email to my landlord about the broken heater”. Tone rewrites stay within your level: it is your voice, adjusted, not someone else’s. Apply to document to keep it, or Export .docx to take it elsewhere.

Level up

Curious what your writing would look like a step ahead? Level up shows your text as a writer one CEFR level above you would put it — richer connectors and verbs, same story. It is a mirror, not a correction: your document is unchanged.

History

Every edit, import, and applied correction snapshots the previous version into the document’s History, where you can compare and restore. Experiment freely — you can always get back.
