Reading grammar notes

How to find the note you need, switch it between languages, work through its exercises, and keep it bookmarked for next time.

Finding a note

  1. Open the Grammar section.
  2. Use the search at the top of the index to filter notes by keyword.
  3. Tap the bookmark filter to show only the notes you have bookmarked.

Each entry in the list shows the note’s title; open one to read it.

Reading a note

A grammar note explains one concept — its title appears in the target language, with the translated title underneath when a translation exists. Badges show the note’s CEFR level (A1–C1) and its category.

Switching languages

When a note has a translation, it opens in your language for clarity. Use the language toggle at the end of the note to switch to the target-language version. Reading the explanation in the language you are learning is a worthwhile challenge once the concept itself is no longer new.

Working through the exercises

Many notes end with an Exercises section: numbered fill-in-the-blank sentences that use the concept you just read about.

To answer an exercise:

  1. Fill in the blank — either by typing your answer, or by choosing from a list, depending on the exercise.
  2. Press Check. You get immediate feedback on whether your answer was right.
  3. If you are stuck and the exercise has a hint, press Hint.

Some exercises include a translation of the sentence in brackets, so you always know what you are trying to say.

Bookmarking a note

Press the bookmark icon at the top of a note to save it. Bookmarked notes can be filtered on the grammar index, which turns your bookmarks into a personal reference shelf of the concepts you are currently working on.
