Vocabulary

Your Vocabulary is the list of words and sentences you have actually met while studying. You never type anything into it — it collects itself as you use Immersive — and it lives in your Profile, under the Vocabulary tab.

How vocabulary is collected

Three activities feed your Vocabulary automatically:

  • Words and sentences you translate in the reader. Tap a word or sentence in a document to see its translation, and it is recorded.
  • Sentences you miss in review. When a review does not go well, the item lands here so you can decide what to do with it.
  • Corrections from your writing. Words that come back corrected in your written documents are collected too.

Each entry remembers how often you have seen it, missed it, and reviewed it, so the list doubles as a record of which words are giving you trouble.

Browsing your list

Open Profile → Vocabulary. At the top you will see your totals — how many items you have collected and how many you have saved. You can:

  • Search your words with the search box.
  • Filter by type — all types, words only, or sentences only.
  • Tick Saved only to see just the items you have marked as worth keeping.

Saving and dismissing

Not everything you translate is worth studying. Select the entries you care about, then:

  • Save keeps them marked, so they stand out and can be filtered with Saved only.
  • Dismiss clears entries you do not want to track.

Turning vocabulary into a deck

The whole point of collecting vocabulary is to review it. To create a deck from your list:

  1. Open Profile → Vocabulary.
  2. Select the words and sentences you want to study.
  3. Choose Create a deck from selection.

Immersive creates a new deck (named “Vocabulary” with today’s date) with one card per selected item, ready to review like any other deck. See Reviewing cards.

If your list is empty

Vocabulary only fills as you study. The fastest way to start it is to open a document and read: every word you translate appears here. See Reading documents.
